About The Boilerhouse

Up until the early 1990s, the Boilerhouse was the source of power for one of the East Midlands’ largest manufacturing facilities that then occupied the site. Now it provides power of a different kind through its transformation into an exciting conference and events venue in the heart of Grantham.

The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) acquired the Boilerhouse facility in 2007 and set about transforming it from an ordinary brick-built structure into one of the most eye-catching locations outside London. Through its use of steel cladding, the building’s design emphasises the Institute’s integrated approach to the extraction and application of materials.

Throughout the building, attention has been paid to the use of cutting-edge materials representing the specialisms of Institute members. Many blue chip companies including those listed at the side have generously supported the Boilerhouse project.
